That’s a lot of money for 9 months of work, paid holidays off , and with benefits that are better than anything in the private sector. Who is working for who?

What exactly does, Gatta, Nanciann $299,597 do for that type of money?

Comment on $91,866 Oakton Street “Road Diet” Test in Downtown Skokie Starting in May – for 6 weeks by Dr. Liliana N. Fargo http://skokienotices.com/91866-oakton-street-road-diet-test-in-downtown-skokie/#comment-5280 Sun, 16 Oct 2011 15:44:13 +0000 http://skokienotices.com/?p=612#comment-5280 There is no single formal study that proves Commercial development has improved as result of implementing a road diet.

There are other actions to improve area appealing that could and have been done in Skokie, and we should focus on what we know it works.

Studies supporting the road diet are based on safety improvement mainly for pedestrian. But to be honest, there are more squirrels than people crossing the streets of Downtown Skokie on an average day. If you love squirrels, I guess it makes sense.

Comment on Legislation to Permit Automatic Electric and Gas Rate Increases over next 10 years by Ed. http://skokienotices.com/748/#comment-5127 Thu, 12 May 2011 17:17:19 +0000 http://skokienotices.com/?p=748#comment-5127 AARP Illinois

“In spite of changes in the way in which rate cases would be brought before the Illinois Commerce Commission, the most troubling aspects of the bill are still in place: locking in rate hikes for Illinois consumers for a number of years; and giving electric and natural gas companies higher profits. Consumers would be on the losing end, for a long time, if this bill passes the Legislature.”

Comment on Skokie Voice Community Forum on housing in Skokie by Adam Turetzky http://skokienotices.com/699/#comment-5054 Wed, 20 Apr 2011 20:04:39 +0000 http://skokienotices.com/?p=699#comment-5054 You mean like in Wisconsin?

Or like in Florida in 2000?

Or like in Ohio in 2004?

Like that? 😉

It’s been clear for a decade, voting is no longer the answer. First that must be fixed. It won’t be done by voting.

It’s my current belief the match that will ignite this change is the coming (or already arrived?) class warfare and the soon to be tripling of fuel costs forcing people to no longer be able to get to work or afford or even have access to food.

I hope I’m wrong, even if I’m right!

If you want to fix any problem susceptible to the political process, you need to go out and organize votes from like minded people.

Without those votes, you are wrong, even if you are right.

In the midst of the worst economic downturn in the 234 year history of the United States the biggest issue is how to force your will on your neighbors to drive those who you detest out of your town?

“How do I get my neighbor to only have 4 children?”

“How do I force my neighbor to only have one generation under their roof?”

“How do I force the landlord to make state occupancy laws even tighter to get rid of the folks next door?”

“How do I make my neighbor mow their lawn every week, like I pay my landscapers, instead of every other week or once a month”

“How do I make sure a millionaire moves in next door and the bank that holds the title to the completely worthless and over mortgaged property next door doesn’t let it dilapidate to the point of demolition”

You want to know how to fix all of these problems? Jail the bankers for fraud! Fire the CEO’s who took public money for million dollar bonuses while running their companies into the ground! Recall the politicians who let this happen! End the wars! Demand twice the current salaries and wages from employers so we can actually have a middle-class again!

It should be mandatory for all Village officials to go out of their way to drive through through the entire test area between Skokie Blvd. & the Village Hall during morning and evening rush hour, Monday through Friday, for the entire six week period.

Then they will see first hand how crazy the narrowing of Oakton Street really is.

Wouldn’t a better option be the construction of multi-level parking garages in the area and let people stroll by shops to get from the garage to the restaurants?

Comment on Collapsing Water Systems in Wilmette, Skokie & Northern Suburbs by Adam Turetzky http://skokienotices.com/collapsing-water-systems-in-the-wilmette-skokie-northern-suburbs/#comment-5049 Mon, 18 Apr 2011 19:05:42 +0000 http://skokienotices.com/?p=689#comment-5049 At least we have a shiny new police station that’s winning numerous awards for the builder!

Perhaps when the system gets bad enough we can vote to have the police bring us all bottled water to use in our homes!
