District 219 Ranks Second in State => IN PER PUPIL EXPENSES!
While far from the richest school district in the state, among 868 other School Districts, District 219, by spending over twice the Illinois Per Pupil average, was still able to attain the 2nd highest per-pupil expenses in Illinois, led only by Lake Forest Community High School District 115.
Local high achiever, Evanston Township High School District 202, was a strong runner up, ranking 5th in state in this dubious competition.
How did District 219 do it? Well an average teacher salary of almost $97,000 helps as does an average administrator salary in excess of $140,000. But they needed more than excessive salaries to achieve such a high ranking.
“…what are District 219 taxpayers getting for their money? That question doesn’t have any easy answers, said Jim Szczepaniak, District 219’s community relations director.” How is that for an understatement from a professional communicator?
